interactive installation, multiple silk-screened cotton/linen prints in towel dispenser, 5 different phrases, 15” x 10.5”x 4”, 2006
This work seems to give people credit for trying. It explores the nature between the disposable yet permanent need for conversation starters. Phrases like “Hi, how are ya” are seemingly pointless; however a discussion needs to start somewhere. |

installation documentation of performance, bronze brooches, 2007
Passed out 18 broaches to secretaries on campus and had them give them to one of the many mailboxes in the department. Thus, creating a conceptual ring and method of sparking new relationships. The artist is the maker, the participant is the gift giver and the recipient is the third point to begin a circle.

patinized copper, fabric, bed, costume, 2007
This interactive performance piece was done on Valentine’s Day. I was blindfolded and not speaking. By gesturing for my viewer to interact with me in a ritualistic giving of copper rings, I created an individual connection with a viewer in the presence of a public audience. These rings were stamped with different personality traits that a person would want in a match. I passed out 98 rings during a two hour performance piece. This work challenged the psychology of a day on our calendar, private vs. public sentiments, and a common feeling of looking blindly for the right person to come along. |
